When Technology Fails……The Carpool Lane with MY HERO Janet Evans
We’ve all been there. The moment technology fails us. Today we were supposed to be able to chat with my childhood hero and friend Janet Evans.
Janet and her daughter Sydney had 3 computers going trying to get logged into the webinar. We were even going to try and go live with Janet appearing through FaceTime on my phone. We were about to go live, and then……...Crowdcast (which is the platform that we use to stream The Carpool Lane) crashed! A huge shout out to Janet and Sydney for trying so hard to join us today.
Growing up watching Janet swim was one of the primary reasons I wanted to be an Olympic swimmer. I had posters of Janet, and had her pictures glued to my meet psych up mix tapes (yes tapes haha!). While watching Janet swim in the Olympics and stand on the podium to receive her medal was the moment I told my parents that I too would be an Olympic swimmer one day.
I’ve gotten the opportunity to watch Janet stand behind her daughter Sydney’s lane as she swam the 100 yard breaststroke. You would have never imagined that Janet was one of the most successful swimmers in the history of the sport. Janet watched her daughter swim as any parent watches their child. Cheering, but never critiquing her stroke or race. I was so excited to ask her how she manages to separate being Janet the world class swimmer and being a mom.
Stay tuned for when we are able to catch up with Janet!
